Best Kept Playing Fields Competition results 2017

 

2017 was another amazing year with 199 facilities entered into the competition.

We gladly awarded our winners and runners up for their hard work at the AGM, which took place on the 19th October at the Essex Police Sports and Social Club, Chelmsford.

So without futher ado, here are the results:

Class 1 - Playing fields serving a population of 2,500 or more

Winner - Loughton Town Council - Roding Valley Rec

Runner Up - Ongar Town Council - Love Lane

Class 2 - Playing fields serving a population of less than 2,500

Winner - Tillingham Village Council - The West Field, Vicarage Lane

Runner Up - Dedham Parish Council - The Duchy Playing Field

Class 3 - The Gerald Snook Award for children's playgrounds whether on or off playing fields but judges apart from any playing field on which they are situated.

Winner - Saffron Walden Town Council - Golden Acre Community Centre

Runner Up - Loughton Town Council - Trapps Hill Play Area

Class 4 - Cricket Grounds on which a winter game may or may not be played

Winner - Saffron Walden Cricket Club

Runners Up - Brentwood County Ground Club

 

Class 5 - Playing Fields which are professionally maintained and managed by larger authorities and commercial organisations

Winner - Chelmsford City Council - Springfield Hall park

 Runner Up - Chelmsford City Council - Melbourne Park

Class 6 - Best Kept Football Pitch

Winner - Chelmsford City Council - Melbourne Park

Runner Up -  CFC Shalford

Class 7 - For exceptional work carried out during the year

Winner - Langham Parish Council - New play area
