Best Kept Playing Fields Competition results 2016

 

2016 was a record breaking year with 199 facilities entered into the competition.

We gladly awarded our winners and runners up for their hard work at the AGM, which took place on the 13th October at the Essex County Ground, Chelmsford.

So without futher ado, here are the results:

Class 1 - Playing fields serving a population of 2,500 or more

Winner - Buxton Trust

Runner Up - Rayleigh Town Council - King George V Field

Class 2 - Playing fields serving a population of less than 2,500

Winner - Feering Parish Council - Rye Mill Lane

Runner Up - Elmdon and Wendon Lofts Parish Council

Class 3 - The Gerald Snook Award for children's playgrounds whether on or off playing fields but judges apart from any playing field on which they are situated.

Winner - Loughton Town Council - Trapps Hill Play Area

Runner Up - Braintree District Council

Class 4 - Cricket Grounds on which a winter game may or may not be played

Winner - Billericay Cricket Club

Runners Up - Brentwood County Ground Club

 

Class 5 - Playing Fields which are professionally maintained and managed by larger authorities and commercial organisations

Winner - Braintree District Council - Spa Road, Witham

Joint Runners Up - Braintree District Council and Chelmsford City Council

Class 6 - Best Kept Football Pitch

Winner - Rayleigh Town Council - King George V Playing Field

Runner Up -  Danbury Parish Council - Pitch 1

Class 7 - For exceptional work carried out during the year

Winner - Loughton Town Council - Trapps Hill Play Area
